Multi-spectral skin imaging by a consumer photo-camera

The possibilities to perform multi-band spectral imaging by means of a consumer color camera without external filters have been studied. Images at up to 6 spectral bands may be extracted from a single color image after appropriate signal processing. The proposed technique was tested in pilot measurements of in-vivo skin hemoglobin maps and laser-excited autofluorescence images.

CT and MR imaging of chemotherapy-induced hepatopathy.

Chemotherapy-induced hepatopathy includes a wide variety of parenchymal and vascular hepatic changes on imaging, including diffuse or focal hepatopathies (i.e. hepatitis, steatosis, fibrosis, pseudocirrhosis, or sinusoidal obstruction). These changes can profoundly alter the hepatic parenchyma on imaging and result in both false negative and false-positive diagnoses of hepatic metastases and lead to errors in patient management strategies. Gallbladder Agenesis: Report of a Preoperative Diagnosis With Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography

Agenesis of the gallbladder is an extremely rare congenital entity with shaded clinical and radiologic features, which make the preoperative diagnosis really challenging. Here, we report a case of a 52-year-old symptomatic female with biliary symptoms and contracted gallbladder at ultrasound (US). The final diagnosis was made with magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and the treatment was conservative. However, diagnosing this condition preoperatively is still challenging. However, with innovations in terms of biliary tract imaging technique, and with better knowledge of this entity, many unnecessary surgical procedures might be avoided.

Advances in detection and characterization of atherosclerosis using contrast agents targeting the macrophage

With advances in imaging technology and our understanding of the role of inflammation in atherosclerosis, the macrophage appears to be an excellent target for imaging the progression of disease. In addition to imaging the macrophage with only 1 modality, contrast agents can be created that can be imaged with multiple modalities. Tumor targeting using agents with slow pharmacokinetics represents a major challenge in nuclear imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy as they most often result in low imaging contrast and high radiation dose to healthy tissue.
